Prayer from Psalm 4: Wide Awake

Lord, as the day ends, the despair begins.

As the sun sinks, the stress rises.

My heart is racing.

My mind is running.

I can’t get over the bad things done to me.

I can’t get over the bad things done by me.

So here I am–on my bed, wide awake.

Calm my quivering mind.

Fill my heart with peace.

Let me rest in you.

Tonight, let me rest in peace with you.

  1. This is such an honest prayer! I find it hard to believe that no one has commented in the 9 months since it was posted. Beautiful, simply beautiful, as only transparancy can be. I’ve had way too many nights like this … I’m older now, and pray sooner than I used to. Sometimes. 🙂 Thank you so much!

    1. Lane,

Thanks very much for the positive feedback. I’m grateful that God used the words and image in a helpful way.
      Peace,

      Chris
