Prayer from Psalm 141: Change of Heart

Lord, may this prayer be to you like the smell of cookies baking in the oven.

As I knock on your door I hope you’ll answer as if a postman just arrived with an unexpected package.

Because what I want more than anything is for you to change my heart.

I’m not hungry for superficial change.  I need what only you can give.  I need a change of heart.

Help me so that I not only do not act on my evil desires–help me not to even have evil desires.

May I not only not do what’s wrong–may I not even desire what’s wrong.

Change my heart, O Lord.

  1. Thanks for writing this. I was feeling pretty hopeless. I didn’t feel like i knew the words to pray but your post says it all. Thanks

    1. Latryce,

I’m so grateful that God brought some hope to you through these words. I’m in prayer for you.
