The Fire of a Flock

What brings you comfort? What makes you happy?

For a woman named Ventiko, it’s a peacock.

That’s right, a peacock.[1]

Perhaps you caught Ventiko’s story a few weeks ago. She is a photographer and performance artist in New York. She recently tried to board a flight in Newark with her peacock Dexter, claiming that the peacock was her emotional-support animal. She bought Dexter a ticket. She paid money for the peacock to sit next to her on the flight–because it’s her comfort animal. He makes her happy when she’s sad. He brings her comfort when she’s anxious.Read More »Warmer: The Warmth of One (Acts 16) Chris Altrock – 2/11/18

People in Pain

Last Sunday Eric told you a story about waiting to eat enchiladas while he was in Texas. He made a big point out of the fact that he was eating enchiladas in Texas, as if Texas is the place where you get really good Mexican food.

Longing for God

May God be with you.
May he renew all within you.
May his kingdom come thru you.
May God form you thru
the Spirit you house,
the disciplines you adopt,
and the afflictions you face,
into one filled with,
and filling the world with,
faith,
hope and
love.

Bad Ripples

In the 1930’s Agatha Christie published what would become one of her most famous novels. It was titled, Murder on the Orient Express. This novel was adapted to film multiple times. It became a film once again this year.

Yes–I’m about to reveal some of the details of this year’s film. But–the book’s been out since the 1930’s! I’ve given you almost 90 years to read the book. So I feel somewhat justified in revealing these details.

In the book Agatha Christie introduces us to twelve people. At first introduction, they seem to be twelve strangers–completely disconnected except for the fact that they are on the same train. These twelve people are distinct from one another in gender, race, income, and education.Read More »God Came Near: Wonder Woman (Lk. 1:46-55) Chris Altrock – 12/17/17
